Finally got my hands on Numero’s Light: On The South Side 2LP/hardcover photobook boxset during my first trip to Amoeba in Hollywood. Capturing 1975-1977 Chicago night clubs on the South side, photographer Michael Abramson split his time taking night-shots at clubs like Perv’s House, Pepper’s Hideout, The HIgh Chaparral, The Patio Lounge and The Showcase Lounge. These were clubs filled with black and white patrons, dancing to rugged Chicago blues, funk and soul.
I’ve always thought of music as the perfect time machine, but flipping through the pages of this book with the accompanying music is just too good. Check out the full release here.
